APPEARANCE
It is a soft limestone Noyant stone is extracted from an underground quarry, opened in Maddle Ages. This quarry was used in the construction of local monuments of that time like Soissons Cathedral and building in Paris. In this underground quarry stone extracted gives a Noyant firm and in the past a Noyant ½ firm; but today only firm is extracted. Both layers give blocks of approx. 260 x 140 x 150 cm. Large quantities are possible. These stones which are very soft when extracted are becoming harder under the effects of UV and rain. It could be easily worked, for example with a chainsaw, with no water ! They are soft stones united beige.

USES
Firm or ½- firm Noyant are masonry stones and are mainly used in massive facade or wall cladding ( thickness > 8 cm ). They are not frost resistant and outside for vertical parts ( window sills, corniches, … ), is better to associate it with a frost resistant limestone It is used for pilasters, window and door frames, fireplaces
