Description
APPEARANCE
Fontenay is a trade name which groups actually stones from several quarries located on villages a few kilometers of each other (Magny, St Marc, Semond) but on the same deposit. These stones are very similar and all have the same color The particle size is a little rough stones from the village of Semond.
We distinguish :
- Fontenay Light ( or Clair ) : light beige background with gray grain
- Fontenay Gold ( or Dore ) : golden beige background with a little lightly golden grain
- Fontenay Yellow
Note that in Fontenay from Semond origin, one can find blocks with brown veins (and thus it is Beaumaniere Classico light).
It is customary to cut Fontenay with bed; clear is also crosscut.
Finally we find in some locations of quarries more or less crystal veins. They are semi-hard limestone.
Usual slab sizes are 180-230 cm x125-135 cm; quarry capacity allows to supply small to medium scale projects.

TECHNICAL DATA
USES
All types of Fontenay are semi-hard limestones: They can be used as flooring for medium and residential traffic. As semi-hard limestones, they can be easily aged according to different processes (top face more or less aged, pillowed edges, distressed edges…).
They are particularly decorative: they can be used as vanity tops, kitchen tops (with an appropriate sealer), for fireplaces….
It could be also used for wall cladding.
They are frost resistant and thus could be used outside for wall cladding, residential terraces, pool decks and copings…
